Devonte Hart Painting "Free Hugs": Charity Auction

Devonte was one of the children who was presumably driven off a cliff, along with his adopted siblings, by their adoptive mothers. The story of the Harts, and Devonte, has crushed me.

Devonte was the little boy who was photographed by freelance photographer Johnny Nguyen in Portland during the Ferguson protests. He hugged a police officer with tears in his eyes. His mother told the officer he was crying because of racial injustice, but hindsight tells us Devonte's tears were an indication of his personal struggle with being an abused child.

I wanted to paint Devonte because I think the Hart children's story is an important one. Those children should not be forgotten.

I titled this painting, "FREE HUGS".

It was painted with acrylics on a gallery wrapped, deep profile canvas size 24x20". It was finished with professional satin varnish and has attached hanging hardware.

This painting of Devonte Hart is up for auction on eBay as of today, April 10th. It will remain there until sold. 100% of the proceeds will go to the National Center for Exploited and Missing Children.

Bidding starts at $100 + shipping.

Support a great cause and bid on this moving, powerful painting. Another way you can support this charity auction is to share the listing with your friends. Thank you so much.
