I found this candlestick holder at a thrift store. It was brown with a clear glaze and most people wouldn't have given it a second look. I bought it for $3 because I liked the detail. All detail was lost in the original finish but I knew I could bring life to this candle holder by painting it with bright colors. (The colors were inspired by the bright colors of Indian fabric dyes, which I love.)
The acrylic paint is sealed with a glossy, clear protective glaze.
